I joined some colleagues one weekday for lunch. The restaurant was quite clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Given that this was my first hot pot experience, I definitely learned a few things that I would do differently the next time (eg. add items in smaller batches, especially noodles). The restaurant was fairly clean and tidy, as were the washrooms. I opted for the lunch special, with a Tom Yum soup base, and 6 items varying from proteins, noodles and vegetables. The Tom Yum soup was very fragrant and delicious, and was not as spicy as I had thought it would be. The proteins, noodles and vegetables all seemed very fresh and of a decent quality. Given that I was with a larger group, we shared a number of different appetizers, the best of which were the cream cheese filled wontons in my opinion. Parking in the area wasn't too hard to find, however it's particularly evident that the inner city definitely has homelessness and addiction problems. This did not influence my rating of 97 Hotpot at all, but it's something to be aware of if you've never been to Chinatown before, or the side streets where more parking is available. Once I've tried other hot pot restaurants, I'll return to this review and reevaluate my rating if required. I just didn't feel that giving a 5 star review with no comparisons was completely fair.

My favorite hot pot in the city! I like how clean it it’s in 97 Hot Pot. There’s a few south side that put me off based on the lack of care to cleaning. Not to mention the seafood but that’s for another review. 97 Hot Pot has good seafood. Fresh! Prepared for table properly. Meat is on the higher end from other places. Prompt service. 7 or 8 options for broth. Also a side condiment section that is well stocked and tidy! Lots of bowls for the different sauces. Spring rolls were hot to touch and cooked when ordered. You could tell they were fresh! My pop came with a plastic straw which I greatly appreciated. Hard to flag down staff everytime I’ve visited. The rating reflects that. Parking is along the side street to the restaurant or half a block away on the next street over behind the building. Free for 2 hours (I think). It’s not the best area of town but I’ve never been bothered by those living on the streets. So don’t let that deter you from visiting.

It was a first time experience for all of our party of four, it exceeded all expectations. Very happy with our evening. The servers are very good at keeping up with beverages and clean up, they're very hard working ladies. The environment was clean, the broths were amazing and you know they care about their establishment because the bathroom was very clean as well. Thank you all for a wonderful night, we will most definitely be back!

Their lunch time special is a really good deal. For $17.95 you get 6 items. Although it’s an extra $1 for any of the broth other than clear, so really it’s $18.95. Quality of meats and veggies that we chose were quite good! Quantity was very fair if not generous. We went at 3pm for a late lunch/early dinner and we left very satisfied. It likely would have been too much for either of us for a regular lunch. The sauce station was well maintained and stocked. Service was very attentive and friendly. We were impressed with how well they catered to the English speaking crowd, noticeable difference from a few years ago. Which is nice, maybe that means hot pot is becoming more mainstream. I like the individual pots and ability to control the temperature. Our server was prompt with picking up dishes, refilling water, etc… Overall, still a fantastic spot for hot pot and a staple in Edmonton Chinatown.

This place is in the heart of Chinatown. They offer an extensive all you can eat menu. All the meats and vegetables are very fresh. The only negative is that they now limit the oysters to one. The sauce station has a good variety of different sauces and is replenished frequently. The staff are quick and very friendly. I'd highly recommend this place.

9 of us had lunch here before Christmas. It was busy but the staff did a great job with service. There was an abundant selection of food. The Chinese food options like Ginger Beef and Sweet Sour chicken were so great. Hot pot is a fun way to eat and extremely filling! Highly recommend this place. Parking is tough and lots of homeless people around but it adds spiciness to the whole situation!

One of the great hotpot places in Edmonton. Their portions of meat are generous and of really good quality. I love being able to load up on extra toppings at their self serve garnish bar. Broths are always good too, my go to is the spicy szechuan pepper. But you can always go with the clear broth and spice it how you like from the garnish bar. The hosts are also very attentive and polite. Prices are reflective of what you get so it's not cheap but not too pricey, I feel that they give a good service and taste for the price and is definitely worth a try if you have not been there before.

If I could give these lovely people a 10/10 I would!!! We discovered this little gem a year ago when we lived to Edmonton from Vancouver Island and we had a huge hankering for hot pot. We stumbled across this wonderful family owned restaurant and haven’t looked elsewhere really for kick ass hot pot. (We have been to the one in west Edmonton mall but it’s too expensive and we don’t get the same family vibes that we get here!) we come about 1-2 times a month sometimes more (don’t judge we had gone almost 4 years without decent hot pot in Nanaimo lots to make up for!!!) We brought my husband here for his birthday last weekend and Leon and his wife (I know her name and I’m drawing a blank!) came out of their way to say happy birthday to my husband. Geoff even got serenading from Leon which was super fun. This cute restaurant is and will be our go to place for as long as we are here or they are here. We feel like family when we come in. They always greet us with huge smiles. The food is really fresh and fast. The restaurant is clean. What more could you ask for!!!!??? Much love to these people.
